1978 Romic

Describe your image

The Romic brand was started by Ray Gasiorowski, former racer in the US, who started the company in Texas in 1970s. The brand soon became noted for high quality lugged steel custom frames. Gasiorowski passed away in 1996 but the company continued production until early 2000's. A very informative pair of websites, created by vintage bike enthusiast Rich Pinder tell the bike's interesting history (http://138.68.42.35//Romic.html and https://richpinder.smugmug.com/Bikes/RomicHistory). The bike was originally acquired by Jim in the early 2000's at a Seattle bike swap with the goal of restoring it but sat neglected until 2022 when it was repainted with a NOS set of factory decals from Ray's wife. It has mostly Campy components: NR(hubs, derailleurs), Gran Sport(brakes, headset), Laprade seat post (with moderate scratches), Suntour cranks, Sugino chainrings, Not sure of bottom bracket maker, also has Cinelli bars and stem both of which have very significant scratches. The 24 inch wheels are set up as tubular and these rims and tires are somewhat hard to obtain these days. Bike was sold in January 2024.
